CRUFT'S 10th - 13th
March 2005 RBT Booth at Discover Dogs
2005

<---President of the Club Tom Huxley
with Olga Vorobejeva (Russian Dynastii)

This year is the first time classes have
been allocated for the breed at Crufts,
Sunday Judge
Dr G Vandoni
(Italy),
Neapolitan Mastiffs, Tibetan Mastiffs and Russian Black
Terriers.
Cruft’s, Sunday 13th
March, was the first time ever; there were classes for the breed.
Russian, French & Italian
exhibitors gathered together chatting with UK breeders/exhibitors from early
morning. Keen enthusiasts came early also to cheer on and to enjoy watching
this giant breed being prepared for the show ring. One word springs to mind it
was ‘Electric’.
Judging the RBT’s was Dr Guido Vandoni (Italy) he
began at 3-45pm having being delayed for a short while as the BBC had asked to
film his first class Sp.J.D. This coverage was shown on T.V. Sunday evening
with Mr Frank Kane giving a brief but explicit overview of the breed of which we
are grateful, a giant breed with substance to match and above all grooming plays
an important part in the well being of any groomed breed. Not suitable as a
first time dog…. We are all pleased his overview was defined so well. Keep to
the ‘Slow Lane’ and not jump/start as other new breeds have in the past. We all
hope the RBT will follow other groomed breeds and stroll slowly along happily
with caring owners.
There were 36 RBT’s making
39 entries on the day. B.B. & B.O.B. Evdokia iz Russkoi Dinastii, handled by

The RBT Club organised
many specials to make it a day to remember, a medallion for every exhibitor and
also for the dogs working on the RBT Booth, Discover Dogs. The medallions
depicted an RBT in the centre and around the edge was engraved Russian Black
Terrier Club with (UK) added especially for those exhibitors from abroad.
A lovely caricature portrait of RBT Rus/Fr/Mon/Lux/Int
CH Kait Krait (now 8yrs old placed 3rd in Open Dog who is the sire
of the B.D. winner) was printed by the club and presented to all exhibitors,
with kind permission from owners `Yuri and Irina Morozov - kennel Chigasovo
(Moscow). Special Certificates were presented to all exhibitors donated by
committee member Melanie Rawson. From Poland, Kasia and Renata Stanczak,
hand painted the RBT on to white beakers and Kasia presented one to each class
winner. A lovely framed picture of an RBT which had been commissioned for this
special event by club member Nadezhda Sazonova, kennel "Nadezhdina PolYana" (Kaliningrad
Region). had been donated to the Club and this was presented to the BOB winner
by the Judge Dr Vandoni.
The RBT Discover Dogs
booth (four days) was a success, it always appears to be one of the busiest!
Chairman Mr Ron Carter donated ‘RBT Club’ sashes for members to wear whilst
manning the D.D. booth.
Yes, everyone went home a
winner, a truly memorable date for the breed, many congratulations to you all.
Janet Huxley.
