CRUFTS  - RBT  Club Discover Dogs Booth

 March  9th  - 12th March  (RBT's Exhibiting 9th ) & Earls Court Nov

Discover Dogs ‘Crufts  March  &  Earls Court’, November  are  always well attended, many thanks to all the members who help at the RBT Booth. It is always very much appreciated. Please do contact  the Secretary, Janet Huxley if you wish to help.  There are four days to choose from at Crufts  and   two days at Earls Court.      Even just  a couple of hours will help considerably.

 Members  working/helping receive free passes.

Discover Dogs  11th & 12th of November 2006

Once again we  were setting off for Earls Court London..

It was a big job setting up the stand, but with Roy (my other half), Riordan (my 10yr old

grandson) and my friend Brenda’s help, we were soon ready to meet the public.

It wasn’t the first time that my RBT “Spud” had been to Discover Dogs. He did Cruft’s

this year and Earls Court last year.

Spud is 4  1/2 years old and has 100% excellent temperament in any situation, which is how it should be.  We also took our 6 month old long-haired Chihuahua pup “Peachi” as we didn’t want to leave her at home.

The public were allowed in at 10am and apart from me taking an hour for lunch, we were talking non-stop (something I am very good at!).

Spud absolutely loves all the attention and there were thousands of people, all wanting to stroke him at the same time.

Children were hanging around his neck and giving him lots of cuddles (he couldn’t get enough of it).

As with most RBT’s Spud uses his weight to lean on people -knocking them off balance. He has a real sense of humour!

We all answered so many questions and gave out lots of RBT Club information sheets on the breed.

A lot of people found it very amusing to see such a tiny Chihuahua alongside such a big dog, but it did show that RBT’s can live with other

breeds (whatever the size).  I have 2 male RBT’s, 1 Rottweiler bitch and 4 smaller breeds and we never have any problems.  I hope that I got across the importance of training and socialising puppies from an early age and also continuing at least until young adults of older.

Roy took lots of photos and in one of Spud we noticed a large “orb” on Spud’s back (which was quite strange as there were other shots taken in the same direction, same lighting etc that didn’t have the orb) and I would like to think that “Bear” had joined us, we all miss him so much. I would like to say a big thank-you to Roy for helping on the stand and Riordan who did a really good job telling everyone about the RBT (he had been learning online all about the origins of the breed for the last month) – and my Spud for being everything you would ever want in a dog and more.

Lastly. I would like to thank the Club for giving us the opportunity to go on the stand. We are now having a well-deserved rest before we see you all at Cruft’s 2007.  Gloria Hill & Spud.

A Big thank you Gloria, from everyone, the feedback was good from the breed enquires for weeks after.  Well done, a good two days hard work.

The RBT Club  (1st)  LIMIT SHOW

Sunday 26th November 2006     AGM to follow

Judging DOGS; Shelley Franks (Cresscombe)

Judging BITCHES  Shirley Hockenhull (Ultrastar).

at Tankersley Welfare Hall,  Pilley,  Barnsley.

BEST IN SHOW Mr G. Bridges - Alyonnushka Russkaja Skazka at Maksa I Trefov (B)

Res BEST IN SHOW  Mr A. Mease - Robroyd Evnikii (D)

Dogs;  Judge -Shelley Franks (Cresscombe)     9  (9 entries)

A big thank you to all the exhibitors for your entries, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. All the dogs behaved themselves and the venue was clean, well spaced and easy to find. Well done to the RBT committee.

Minor Puppy Dog (1 - 0 ab )  1. GALLAGHER – MACHENKA SECRET ADMIRER – what a super little baby of just 6 months. Loved his superb temperament, nothing worried him and it was hard to believe it was his first outing. Sweet head with a good eye colour and expression, well boned for his age. Good clear black coat. Typical puppy movement, I wouldn’t expect anything else at his young age. Well done to his owner, this is the type of puppy we need to see for the future of our lovely breed.

Puppy D (2 – 0 ab) 1. JONES – TOMAIN AMA GEEZER – 10 months youngster, caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring, very mature for his age. Another one with a gentle character, he was just enjoying every minute.  Well proportion head and good placement of ears, lovely eye colour, correct bite. Strong firm body and lovely reach of neck, loved his outline, so well balanced for his age. Typical puppy movement to start with, but with gentle handling he settled to show his strong movement. A very promising youngster, one to watch for the future.  Best Puppy Dog & Best Puppy in Show (joint judging)

2. SUTHERLAND – TOMAIN AMA BIG UN – litter brother to 1st but not yet the maturity, however he has plenty of time. Similar outline as his brother, lovely coat colour and texture. Very sweet expression with correct eye colour, ear placement and strong jaw.  Well muscled thighs which helped to give him the strong rear drive. Front will strengthen with maturity. Good rapport with his handler.

Junior D (2 - 1 ab) 1. DOLMAN – CLANHEIR GLENMORANGIE AT MAXTAY – Super youngster of just 13 months, I liked him a lot. In a larger ring he will have space to stride out fully and show his strong movement, but today I felt he needed more time to mature. Given this I am sure he will be challenging the top males in our breed. His outline was very balanced to the eye. With a well proportion head, strong jaw, good eye colour and good pigment. Clear black colour with correct textured coat. Reserve Best Dog.

Post Grad D (3 – 1 ab) 1. NEWTON – ARMSHEAD SERGI AT LINTWEED – My notes say – big strong dog and so well muscled. I just loved his head, so well proportioned with the correct skull, muzzle, eye colour and ear placement. Another one who is so well balanced in outline, strong firm body with solid bone. Took a little time to settle on the move but I saw enough to give him the class.

2. BRIDGES – LISKARN FABERGE – A very smart youngster of 16 months, just lost

out today on maturity of winner. I liked his alert expression, lovely coat colour and texture. Clean neck, well placed shoulders and a compact body. When asked to move got into a good stride showing a powerful drive.

Open D (1 – 0 ab)  1 MEASE – ROBROYD EVNIKIL – My notes start with – super and stunning. I just loved this dog from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. So mature for one not yet 2 years old. He is so well balanced both on the move and when standing. Very good head, eye colour and strong jaw, good length of neck and lovely shoulders with a strong firm body. Well muscled thighs that produced his strong front reach and rear drive, he went round the ring as if he owned it. I shall watch his show career with interest. Well deserved –Best Dog &    Res BIS(joint judging)

The Officers and committee,   thank everyone who attended the clubs first  Limit show.    We apologise that photos were not available.

Farthest Travelling Exhibitor to the Limit Show

Patron of the Club Mr Terry Thorn kindly donated £10 for the farthest travelling exhibitor. The winner was Donna Sutherland (North) from  Aberdeen having travelled 400 miles. Interestingly this was a very good idea from Terry as it gave a rough list of miles each exhibitor had travelled which had been correlated by my Brother-in-law Barry and my Grandson Aaron. 2nd Pat Moncur (South) Ipswich 235 miles, 3rd *Kathy Gallagher Essex 214 miles, 4th *Sue Jones Essex 204 miles. 5th Sue Wilson Carlisle 150 (absent), 6th *Tom Rigby Biggleswade149 miles.

Another thought from this simple survey, three*, of the above attend committee meetings in Barnsley a minimum of five times a year.

The day after I was curious as to Ferries .& Isobel Little’s  journey (a Scottish accent) as their address was not in the catalogue! (sorry) They had travelled some 439 miles. We hope to see you both and your dogs at the next show!

Regards to you all, may the New Year bring much happiness and laughter in your life.  Janet Huxley
