Russian Black Terrier Club Open Show 9/10/05

Mr Terry Thorn’s Report

Published in Dog World 25/11/05

The 16 classes were well filled with eighty dogs making ninety four entries.

Considering that the breed only came off the import register in 2004, this excellent event gave good indication that the RBT is well on the upgrade in popularity and the club members should be very proud and pleased with their committee and Officers for their endeavours. The show was staged on the lawns of the castle and attracted some 200 spectators, such was the interest in the breed from outsiders, including many of the countries leading multi-breed  judges.  BIS was the dog Robroyd  Lukomor  with RBIS to the dog Int CH. Vasiliy at Fernwood (Imp). BOS went to Fernwood-Barnes OKA.  BPIS was the dog Robroyd Eros by Redrhinos.

 V. (4)  1. Franks’. Bojarynja Nadezhdinoi Voljany (Imp). 7 years old & in great form on the day.  Super temperament. Looking good in outline with good balance and style. Correct head shape, flat skull, dark eyes, good furnishings. Straight well boned front, well bodied. Sound quarters. ok in coat and texture. She moves out well and is fairly parallel both ends. A great credit to her owner and the breed.

MPD. (3).  1. Byrne’s,  Rough n Tumble at Tycron.  7 months old and really well grown. Scores well in head with a good flat skull, high set ears, dark oval eyes, strong muzzle good furnishings. Lengthy neck, clean throat. Front needs to strengthen, deep chest for age. Ideal body and topline. Fairly square in outline. Well let down stifles. High set tail. Nice medium coat texture. Covers the ground well when on the move. 2. Taylor’s, Clanheir  the Invincible. ...PD.  (6).  1. Rawson’s, Robroyd Eros by Redrhinos. BPIS 8 months old and still needing to drop a shade more in stifles. Nice masculine head, dark oval eyes, flat skull, high set ears, strong muzzle, rounded cheeks. Lengthy neck, straight well boned front. Deep chest,  good ribs. Little strong as yet in topline, high set tail. Moving out well and fairly  true. He came to himself in the challenge. .... 2. Very masculine well proportioned head, broad flat skull, dark oval eyes, good  parallel planes, strong muzzle.  Moderately long neck with good strength  Stands straight in front, good quality bone. Very deep chest. Good ribs, correct top and underline. Enough rear angulation. High set tail. Ideal  coat   texture. Terrific ground covering side gait. Fairly accurate   both ends. In consideration   for  top   honours....  PGD. (2). 1 Sutherland and Thomson’s Glenvarlock Celtic Charm. A nicely made dog not really in a showing or moving mood on the day. He pleases in head properties with good dark eyes and flat skull. Lengthy and strong neck, stands straight in front, deep chest. Just ok in ribs and body. Medium textured coat. Very low  hocks. Not fully settled moving and shows weakness in hocks.  2.  Holland’s, Potterspride Red Flag....  LD.  (5) 1. Fletcher-Barnes’,   Fernwood Alexi 28 months old and a good size handsome dog looking smashing in outline and almost square. Very   masculine head, correct eyes and ears, excellent furnishings, parallel planes. Strong lengthy neck,  true well boned front. Very  deep chest, good strong of ribs, ideal topline, wide and powerful thighs. Good rear angulation, low hocks, medium coat texture. High tail set. Rakish movement, fairly  parallel  both ends. 2. Patton’s,  Glenvarlock Celtic Spirit.  3. Pickerings’, Nadezhdinoy Padarok.... OD.  (7).   1. Huxley’s, Robroyd Lukomor, BIS.  Upstanding 18 months old looking  brilliant  in outline. Quite square and  well  made all through.  Excellent head with parallel planes, good furnishings, dark oval eyes, high set ears. Good straight front, lengthy and very strong neck.  Straight well boned front,  large feet, deep chest, ideal ribs. Well let down in stifle and hocks.  Ideal medium   texture  coat. I made him the best   mover in the class.  2. Smith’s In Ch. Vasiliy at Fernwood (Imp), RBD.  3. Chadwick’s, Hibeck Niolay. ...GCDS  (1). Ball’s,  Tomain Pink Paco is Ballac.  11  months old and progressing well. Nice masculine head. Powerful   lengthy neck. Stands true in  front, good bone, deep chest. A shade long in  couplings. BITCHES

MPB,  (3),  1. Mills’,  Clanheir Flower of Scotland, 6 months old and coming together really well. Lovely feminine head,  dark oval eyes.  Lengthy neck, straight front, body and chest well developed Well let down behind. Excels in movement  and gaiting up and down. Should have a good  future.  2. Varga’s, Abeem Majestic for Jolikai....   PB,  (4),  1. Hockenhull’s, Robroyd Erotiida with Ultrastar. BPB.  9 months old and really well made and bodied up. Nice shaped feminine head with good eyes and furnishing.  Lengthy neck,  clean  throat, straight front, deep chest for age. Good ribs, topline can still settle more and a little more bend of stifle will complete the mover. Should do on and do well.  2. Brooks’, Robroyd Evdoksii. 3. Ross’s, Robroyd Evdokeia... JB. (3).  1. Smith and Fletcher-Barnes, Fernwood Barnes, BB and BOS. 17 months old  and a very exciting prospect indeed. Not much to fault with this one and she looked smashing in outline. Lovely head, flat skull, ideal eyes and high set ears, strong muzzle, rounded cheeks, Powerful neck, clean throat. Well boned straight front,  large feet ideal chest, ribs and body. Correct topline and tail. Very good  bend of stifle, low hocks. Very  good  medium coat. Superb  mover all ways.   2. Taylor’s,  Clanheir  Prima Donna.  3. Fernwood Broshkalova at Mancity... PGB.  (6).  Taylor’s, Potterspride Original Love for Fabio, 2 years old excellent in movement where she really strides out and pleases both ends. Head feminine but slightly long in muzzle,  good eyes and ears. Lengthy neck, fairly   good straight front. Deep chest, good ribs, loins a shade long. Good rear angulation. High tail set. Very good medium   texture coat...  2.  Newton’s,  Nadezhdinoy  Elena at Lintweed.       LB.(10).  1. Wilson’s, Robroyd Chernika. I found her to be the best typical in her class with the best outline and general balance. Pleases in head properties with good furnishings, flat skull, high set ears, dark oval eyes. Neck just long enough, fairly straight front,  deep chest, just enough rear angulation. High set tail,  but carriage too low. Not the most active of movers but still beat the others. Coat ok. 2. Gallagher’s, Machenka Bound For Eternity.  3. Raper and Favell-Raper’s, Shadlian Silver Dollar. OB. (6). 1.  Huxley’s, Krasnaja Ploscad at Robroyd (Imp). RBB. Very high class bitch with a beautiful head with parallel planes and correct proportions. Super furnishings and in good medium coat generally. Long well used neck, clean throat. Straight front,  deep chest. Correct topline, square outline. Well let down in stifle and hocks. When she settled down she moved really well, true both ends and covering the ground nicely.       2 . Rawson’s, Int/Fr Ch. Evdokie Iz Russkoi Dinastii by Redrhinos (Imp).  3. Gallagher’s,   Best Guard Basnya Pushinskaya at Machenka (Imp).   GCDS  (2).  1. Gallagher’s,   Best Guard Basnya Pushinskaya at Machenka (Imp).  At 6 years old she is still very good and typical to go over and scores well in head and general forehand.  Nice neck, deep chest. Good front, topline could be firmer. Very sound backend. Moving true both ends but gaits in her own good time.   2. Gallagher’s, Machenka Bound for Eternity.

The Officers and the Committee are indebted to Mr Terry Thorn and Mr Paul Sorer-Serenson for making the Clubs first Open Show  a truly fabulous day. It will be remembered for many years to come.  Thank you to you both for your  support and encouragement when the Club first formed and  your sincere  regard for the BREED The Black Pearl of  Russia...
